On December 14, 2024, the " The 2nd Global CTO Sci-Tech Driven Business Conference ", hosted by East China Normal University and jointly organized by Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer and Asia Europe Business School, was held at the Yifu Building Lecture Hall in Putuo Campus. The conference, with the theme of "Science and Technology Innovation Sources and Industrial Innovation", invited 11 domestic and foreign academicians, experts, renowned scholars, founders and chief technology officers of the science and technology innovation industry, as well as 7 future stars from around the world to conduct in-depth exchanges and dialogues on the annual theme of "Science and Technology Innovation Sources and Industrial Innovation". Professor He Jiaxun, Executive Dean of CTO School, released the school's 2025 strategy - "Standing in the new era of scientific and technological innovation, cultivating new business genes". Academician Otto C.C. Lin , Senior Advisor and Editorial Board Member of TAO (Tao), former President of Taiwan Industrial Technology Research Institute, and Honorary Professor of East China Normal University, delivered a keynote speech titled "Strategies for Enterprises to Respond to Rapidly Changing Environments". Academician Lin is a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences and the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences. He analyzed the unprecedented challenges that businesses face in the current era, including disruptive innovations driven by cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence and quantum computing, as well as the increasingly tense geopolitical situation and intensifying international competition. He delved into the potential impact of global conflicts on business operations and strategic planning, revealing the rise of technology and innovation companies in the modern economy. In addition, Academician Lin cleverly quoted Laozi's philosophical ideas and proposed strategies that enterprises should adopt under different environmental conditions. In times of prosperity, he emphasized the importance of being prepared for danger and taking precautions in times of peace; In adversity, it advocates vigilance, innovation, seeking change, and resilience.
Dr. He Jingxiang, former General Manager of Intel Asia Pacific Research and Development Co., Ltd. and Distinguished Practice Professor at Shanghai International Chief Technology Officer College, delivered a keynote speech titled "Business Strategy and Industrial Innovation: My Intel Experience". He deeply elaborated on the core role of corporate culture in stimulating innovation through his rich professional experience. He specifically pointed out that Intel's innovation culture consists of three pillars: breakthrough awareness, forward thinking awareness, and crisis awareness, and these cultural genes are the key driving force for the company's continuous progress. In the face of economic challenges, Professor He proposed methods for developing influential business strategies and advocated using profitability as the primary criterion for measuring corporate intelligence. He conducted an in-depth analysis of the interaction between technological progress and market demand, emphasizing the importance of seeking a balance between technology driven and market-oriented approaches. He reminds us that Intel has historically neglected market demand and changes due to excessive focus on technology, which is a lesson worth learning for all businesses.
Professor Ding Wenxuan, a professor at emlyon business school in France and a specially appointed international professor at the CTO School, gave a speech titled "The Way of AI - A New Paradigm for Industrial Innovation". She proposed that starting from 2022, AI technology has evolved from simple data processing and information transformation to a new stage capable of generating profound and intelligent content. She outlined the applications of AI in the field of healthcare, including personalized medical services, medical diagnosis, and health management, as well as accelerating scientific innovation through simulating chemical element combinations in new material discovery, greatly highlighting the key role of AI in promoting industrial innovation and technological progress. Professor Ding also raised an important social viewpoint that the development of AI technology is making the innovation process more democratic. She believes that with the popularization of AI technology, ordinary people can also participate in innovation, propose new ideas and solutions, which will greatly broaden the boundaries and depth of innovation.
