Seize the Opportunities and Empower Technology Innovation in the New Era! The MEM-Intelligent Innovation Project Launch Ceremony and MEM Sci & Tech Innovation Summer Camp Opening Ceremony

On July 9th, the launch ceremony of MEM-Intelligent Innovation Project and MEM Sci & Tech Innovation Summer Camp Opening Ceremony, hosted by Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer (East China Normal University) was successfully held. This activity was hosted by Wang Zhenghuan, a professor and doctoral supervisor of East China Normal University, and vice president of CTO School. At the launch ceremony , He Jiaxun, Executive Dean of Shanghai International School of Chief Technolgy Officer, delivered a keynote speech titled ”Education Innovation and Practice of Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer. Ding Wenxuan, distinguished  professor (foreign expert),  academic director of MEM-Intelligent Innovation project, and director of artificial intelligence and innovation research center, and Shen Hao, deputy chief engineer of Shanghai Institute of Artificial Intelligence, delivered a speech.  Professor Ma Xuejing, Academic Director of the MEM- Intelligent Innovation Project, introduced the program.

Professor. He Jiaxun introduced the origin of MEM-Intelligent Innovation Project. He pointed out that in the context of driving development towards the national science and technology innovation strategy, under the education innovation development strategy of East China Normal University,  our CTO School is exploring intelligent innovation project, focusing on the intersection of artificial intelligence and innovative applications, integrating the unique thinking and concepts of the school for talent cultivation, and exploring innovative talent cultivation models.  High-quality development is the main theme of the new era, and behind it, the power of technological innovation is needed to support the development of the social economy. Qian Xuhong, president of East China Normal University and academician of the CAE Member, proposed that today's talent training should meet the country's demand for innovative development. Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer has innovatively positioned its Master's degree program in Engineering Management to cultivate a group of future oriented senior talents for Chief Technology Officers.

He also stated that the development of science and technology innovation enterprises needs to integrate the height of technology and the thickness of management, and change innovative business models. In talent cultivation, through the cross integration of technology and management, innovative value is formed, and technology transfer and talent transformation are coordinated. East China Normal University has a unique research-oriented comprehensive disciplinary advantage, supporting the establishment and development of MEM-Intelligent Innovation Project.  CTO School has established the direction of intelligent innovation project, which is an innovation of traditional business and management education. During the expert speech segment, Shen Hao delivered a speech titled “New Era of Artificial Intelligence Empowerment”. Shen Hao first introduced the development of artificial intelligence technology, pointing out that the development of China's digital intelligence economy still faces challenges such as core technology being constrained by humans, threats to information security and public opinion control, significant urban-rural disparities in infrastructure concepts and applications, and the urgent need for new breakthroughs in the basic theory of information technology. It details the AIGC wave triggered by ChatGPT, the global big language model revolution, medical AI models, multiple industries and application scenarios of AI empowerment from text generation to Protein structure generation, global players and industrial field distribution of AI track, and comparison of domestic and foreign technology development. Sharing the key links of 1 to 10 of artificial intelligence technology research and development and industrial transformation, pointing out that Shanghai Institute of Artificial Intelligence, facing the world's scientific and technological frontier, the main economic battlefield, and major national needs, focuses on the original innovation of the underlying technology in the field of artificial intelligence, key application technology breakthroughs, and builds a functional platform for artificial intelligence research and development and industrial transformation in Shanghai, which has become a powerful force to accelerate the promotion of artificial intelligence industrial clusters, Finally, prospects for the development of AI technology are presented.

Professor Ding delivered a speech titled “Seizing Opportunities, Realizing AI Empowerment and Innovative Science”, focusing on the two main themes of artificial intelligence and innovation. She introduced the concepts of artificial intelligence and innovation, and proposed that the key breakthrough point in the development of artificial intelligence is to establish its understanding ability. When artificial intelligence helps humans innovate, it needs to understand the differences between humans and machines in the cognitive process, and the process of decision-making thinking from the senses to the human brain is different. For a non living machine, artificial intelligence relies on a large amount of data to train it, generate a behavior through training, and then let humans explain its behavior. She pointed out that the development of ChatGPT is a milestone progress, as it establishes the ability to understand. Machines and human brains have different learning and reasoning mechanisms. If you want artificial intelligence to help humans achieve innovation, you should focus on the way algorithms achieve intelligence.


          Opening Ceremony of MEM Science and Technology Innovation Summer Camp

At the opening ceremony of the summer camp, outstanding students such as Yi Qizhi from the MEM(2023) CTO Advanced Class and the General Manager of the R&D Department of Huijie (Shanghai) Technology Co., Ltd. shared their postgraduate experience. Peng Yuxin, Director of the MEM Admissions Department, presided over the consultation and exchange meeting for the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program.

The students warmly discussed and communicated with each other, and this summer camp ended successfully in a warm atmosphere.
