On May 22nd, the 13th "MEM Practical Classroom for Sci-Tech Innovation Enterprises"was successfully held. More than ten Master of Engineering Management students went to Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics Group located in Yangpu District to conduct a visit and exchange activity.
Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics Group Co., Ltd. (hereinafter FMSH) is a domestic leading company specializing in the design, development, production (testing), and system solution provision of super-large-scale integration. Founded in July 1998, FMSH was listed in Hong Kong in 2000 (stock code: 01385.HK), and transferred to the Main Board of Hong Kong in 2014. FMSH is the earliest and first listed joint-stock IC design company in China. In 2021, FMSH is listed on the SSE STAR Market and forms into the capital structure of “A+H”.
The company has developed mature product lines and system solutions including security and identification, smart meter, NVM, and integrated circuit testing with products sold to more than 30 countries and regions worldwide, and widely used in finance, social security, automotive electronics, urban public transport, electronic licenses, mobile payment, security traceability, smart phones, security monitoring, industrial control, signal processing, intelligent computing, etc.
In this practical classroom, Shen Lei, Deputy General Manager, Senior Engineer of Shanghai Fudan Microelectronics Group Co., Ltd., and doctoral supervisor of Fudan University, gave a themed presentation on "Shining Core, Striving Forward - Development and Technological Innovation of Integrated Circuits". Huang Yiyi, Government Project Management Director of the Ministry of Science and Technology Development, led the students to visit the company's exhibition hall.
Director Huang Yiyi gave a detailed introduction on the company's mission inheritance, development history, corporate culture, public welfare, industry academia collaboration, and main application areas, allowing students to have a comprehensive understanding of Fudan Microelectronics.
Subsequently, Professor Shen Lei conducted an in-depth analysis of the challenges and opportunities faced by the current integrated circuit industry, focusing on the development and technological innovation of integrated circuits.
Professor Shen Lei pointed out that technological progress is the key to promoting the sustainable development of the integrated circuit industry. Faced with the challenges of new business models, it is necessary to enhance the ability to integrate integrated circuit design and manufacturing, play the role of advanced packaging in system integration, explore breakthroughs in new materials, new components and other technologies, and promote the development of the integrated circuit industry through diverse approaches. At the same time, he also emphasized that in the context of the big data era, the integrated circuit industry needs to constantly innovate to meet the growing data demand, and specifically pointed out the core role of semiconductor hard technology in new infrastructure.
In addition, when discussing the pattern changes and market cyclicality of the integrated circuit industry, he mentioned the IDM (Integrated Device Manufacturing Model) and Fabless (Wafer Free Factory Model), and emphasized the applicability of these two models in different product and industry forms. Professor Shen Lei also pointed out that in the face of cyclical changes in the semiconductor market, the industrial downturn is a crucial moment to strengthen construction and technological research and development, while the peak period requires meeting customer needs and optimizing products and technology. Faced with the global trend of mergers and acquisitions, China's integrated circuit industry must keep up with the times, constantly innovate, open up cooperation, and face future challenges with more firm confidence and wisdom, promoting the vigorous development of the industry.
In the current era of global changes, national development urgently needs to be led by technological innovation. Through this trip to the MEM practical classroom for science and technology innovation enterprises, students have gained a new understanding of the new formats of the integrated circuit industry, and have also gained a clearer understanding of the future development direction and ideas of China's integrated circuit industry
