On the afternoon of August 27th, the 2022 MEM industry mentor and student meeting at the Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer （ECNU) was successfully held in Zizhu International Education Park. He Jiaxun, Executive Dean of CTO School, and several 2022 MEM industry mentors as well as MEM students attended the meeting. This event was hosted by Assistant Professor Zhou Qin, and was divided into five parts: introduction to the industry mentor project, a self introduction between the industry mentor and MEM students, a keynote speech by the industry mentor, and interactive communication between the industry mentor and students.
This event is an important measure taken by CTO School to implement the three mentor system and innovative education system. Following the completion of the 2022 Master's degree program in Engineering Management by the responsible supervisor (i.e. degree supervisor), academic supervisor, and student selection and pairing in late April this year. The Industry Mentor project, as a further innovation based on the universal dual mentor system, is different from responsible mentors and academic mentors. It mainly provides targeted practical guidance based on the industrial and technological fields involved in the topic selection of students' thesis, and empowers students' career development. At the event site, the industry mentor and MEM students communicated face-to-face to solve their career confusion and assist MEMer in its future development.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dean He Jiaxun delivered a welcome speech to the 2022 MEM industry mentor and MEM students. He stated that from the enrollment of the first MEM students in 2022 to the arrival of over a hundred new students in 2023 , CTO School, in the trend of rapid development and growth, insists on establishing and vigorously developing close industrial education integration and scientific education integration cooperation relationships with excellent scientific and technological innovation enterprises, and opens up dozens of industrial education integration cooperation bases, distributed in several key industries such as integrated circuits, biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence, financial technology, and Beauty&Wellness. At the same time, the school attaches great importance to the industry mentor project.
Asistant Professor. Zhou Qin introduced CTO School's industry mentor project to the attending teachers and students, including the appointment of industry mentors. She mentioned that in the educational innovation system advocated by the school for the integration and cultivation of the dual spirit of entrepreneurship and scientist spirit, as well as the joint guidance of the three mentors system, industrial mentors are different from responsible mentors and academic mentors, mainly providing targeted practical guidance based on the industrial and technological fields involved in the topic selection of students' thesis.
After the self introduction session between the industry mentor and MEM students, the two industry mentor representatives delivered keynote speeches respectively. Xiao Yunping, Chief Operating Officer of Shanghai Ouyi Biomedical Co., Ltd., delivered a speech titled MEM Learning from the CEO's Perspective.
Shen Hao, Deputy Chief Engineer of Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Research Institute, delivered a speech titled MEM: Integration and Balance of Technology and Management
In the final interactive communication session between the industry mentor and the students, the present teachers and students were divided into multiple groups and sat around a table to exchange work experiences, confusion, and career plans with each other. Not only did everyone learn from the experience sharing within the industry, but they also benefited greatly from communication with other industry elites, and at the same time, they also gained a friendship of both teachers and students.
