On June 12th, The 14th " MEM Technology-Innovation Enterprise Practical Classroom" series of activities at East China Normal University was successfully held. More than 20 Master of Engineering Management students, led by He Jiaxun, Executive Dean of the ECNU- Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer(CTO School), and Wang Zhenghuan, Vice Dean of CTO School, went to the BYD Shanghai Park to access the high-tech-development.
BYD was founded in February 1995 and is headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Its business spans four major industries: electronics, automotive, new energy, and rail transit. It is a Fortune Global 500 company listed in Hong Kong and Shenzhen, with a total of over 48000 patent applications and over 30000 authorized patents worldwide.
At the symposium, Cao Mingji, the head of the Personnel Department of BYD Shanghai, introduced to teachers and students BYD's high-tech development and application in the four major industries of automobiles, new energy, electronics, and rail transit. In the field of electronics, our business relies on comprehensive research and development capabilities, ultra large precision molds and manufacturing capabilities, industry-leading intelligent information systems and automation solutions to provide global brand customers with one-stop services such as new material development, product design and research and development, parts and machine manufacturing, supply chain management, logistics and after-sales. In the field of automobiles, BYD has mastered the core technologies of the entire new energy vehicle industry chain, including batteries, motors, and electronic controls. The operating footprint of new energy vehicles covers 88 countries and regions worldwide, as well as over 400 cities. In the field of new energy, BYD, as a provider of overall solutions for new energy, has new energy products such as batteries, solar energy, and energy storage, connecting all aspects of the energy industry chain from acquisition, storage to application. In the field of rail transit, BYD has launched medium capacity cloud rail and low capacity cloud bus with fully independent intellectual property rights, filling the gap in the rail transit technology industry and providing effective solutions for global urban traffic congestion management.
Subsequently, professors and students engaged in discussions around BYD's energy storage business, intelligent driving, and high-end brand "Yangwang Auto".
students visited the BYD solar factory exhibition hall and the Foddy battery production line. In the solar energy factory exhibition hall, teachers and students gained a detailed understanding of the silicon wafer production process and the characteristics of different solar cells.
Regarding BYD's integrated solution for solar energy storage, the staff introduced that BYD has broken through the bottleneck of traditional photovoltaic power generation with its globally pioneering new energy business model, enabling it to meet more diverse market demands and create new industry profit growth points; Utilize new and distributed energy, improve energy structure, reduce reliance on traditional energy, and promote the development of intelligent power grids; Forming a microgrid with photovoltaic, energy storage, and charging facilities, and intelligently interacting with the public power grid according to demand, the application of energy storage systems can also alleviate the impact of charging piles on the regional power grid during high current charging.
At the Fudi Battery SHB factory, teachers and students visited workshops for manufacturing electronic components such as lithium batteries and solar cell modules, as well as processing non-ferrous metal composite materials and new alloy materials. It is reported that BYD Shanghai has built a comprehensive QMS system and integrated multiple systems with MES (production management), PLM (research and development management), WMS (warehouse management) closed-loop platforms, and data acquisition platforms to achieve accurate traceability of battery quality data throughout its entire lifecycle.
Through this "MEM on-site classroom tour for science and technology innovation enterprises", students have gained a deeper understanding of the high-tech development and application of BYD's four major industries: electronics, automobiles, new energy, and rail transit, especially the layout of energy storage and battery production. This has also enhanced their understanding and recognition of the overall development of the new energy vehicle industry.
