Nikita Glaznev

Alumni of Master of International Business program of AEBS

PhD student in Public Administration

at SJTU

Nikita Glaznev, a 26-year-old scholar from Russia, earned his Master's in International Business from ECNU's Asia-Europe Business School (AEBS) and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Administration at Shanghai JiaoTong University while working as a Senior Data Engineer at MARS. His academic background spans innovation management, international business, and public administration, while his professional experience combines data engineering with business practice—making him a quintessential "AI + Business" interdisciplinary talent.

Nikita's journey exemplifies the unique potential of cross-disciplinary professionals in today's globalized world. He is not only proficient in technology but also deeply understands its interaction with society, striving to advance public governance through data science.. As a Ph.D. student in Public Administration, Nikita is committed to making a real difference. He aims to revolutionize public governance by leveraging data-driven strategies, translating his in-depth understanding into practical solutions that could reshape the future of governance..

From Passion to Profession: A Cross-Disciplinary Path

Nikita's academic journey began with a strong interest in computer science. Though he initially studied innovation management for his bachelor's degree, he never abandoned his passion for technology—teaching himself programming and working as a junior data engineer at a Russian bank during university.

This experience made him realize that technical skills alone were insufficient; applying technology to solve real-world problems was the greater challenge.. This insight led him to ECNU's AEBS for his master's degree, where he studied the dynamics between global markets and China's economy. AEBS is a highly international business school based in China. Here, through courses emphasizing "Chinese characteristics," he gained a profound understanding of China's policy environment and economic logic. Moreover, since AEBS emphasizes the union of technology and business, it inspired him to think deeply about the potential intersections between technology and business.

"Technology is a tool, while business and public administration are its applications," Nikita remarked. "I want to be the bridge connecting technology with society."

AI Empowering Public Administration: Cutting-Edge Research & Future Vision

Nikita's current research focuses on Automated Decision-Making (ADM) in public administration, exploring how AI can enhance government efficiency and transparency. He believes ADM can optimize bureaucratic systems—for example, by using algorithms to expedite traffic fine processing or deploying large language models (LLMs) to assist policymakers. His work not only fills a gap in this emerging field but also provides practical guidance for digital government transformation.

"The potential of AI is far from fully realized," Nikita emphasized. "The future of public administration will be data-driven, and my goal is to make this transition more efficient and equitable."

After completing his Ph.D., Nikita aspires to take on executive roles in multinational corporations or international organizations, driving the deeper integration of AI in public governance. "Technology shouldn't be confined to labs—it must serve society," he stressed. Though the future holds uncertainties, he is confident that his interdisciplinary expertise will be his greatest asset in solving complex challenges.

AEBS: A Foundation for Growth

His time at ECNU's AEBS laid a solid foundation for Nikita's academic and professional development. The school's unique "China-focused" curriculum deepened his understanding of the country's economic policies and business landscape, while the tutor helped crystallize his research direction.

His master's thesis examined the Belt and Road Initiative's impact in Africa, using data analysis to reveal how the program boosted local economies while creating new opportunities for Chinese enterprises. This research showcased his expertise in international business and his keen insight into globalization.

"AEBS showed me the boundless possibilities of merging technology and business," Nikita recalled. "Discussions on China's digital transformation directly inspired my interest in automated public administration."

Conclusion

Nikita's journey has not been without obstacles, but he remains steadfast in his belief: "Clarity of purpose, decisive action, and perseverance are keys to success. Interdisciplinary learning may be challenging, but it's precisely this diversity that sets you apart."

His story highlights the vast potential at the intersection of AI and businesswhere technology empowers commerce, commerce shapes policy, and policy fuels innovation. In an era of rapid digital transformation, pioneers like Nikita are driving meaningful progress.

Looking ahead, we eagerly anticipate more young talents like him, blending technical expertise with humanistic insight to build a more efficient and equitable world.
