In the past 2022, CTO School Council (Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer, hereinafter referred to as the CTO School) and its work team played a leading role in accelerating the innovative cultivation of chief technology officers with the interdisciplinary research of science and "technology+" and "business +", which has gained acceptance in the academic circles and huge influence in the industry.  

We committed to realizing the social value of science and technology through the dual transformation of people and technology and adhered to the core value of Innovation Changes the World，which helped to shape the way of thinking, and strengthen the ability of innovative technology management leaders. We trained chief technology officers and the most innovative entrepreneurs with a global vision and a sense of social mission.

The Establishment of Innovation Center of Education, Technology, and Talent 

( ICoETT) Center

The ICoETT center is the realization of CTO School’s greatest ambition and idea of Innovative Organization and Conception. Under the guidance of the Integral Development of Education, Technology, Talents strategy, it implements the management support structure of high-quality talent cultivation, and the Students Recruitment, Cultivation and Career-Advisory Service Collaborative Plan proposed by CTO School. On top of that, it strengthens the cross-department and cross-functional collaboration ability, at the same time, optimizes and adjusts both the staffing and organizational structure. Student enrollment, school-enterprise cooperation, student affairs, teaching management, administration, marketing activities, data-driven decision-making and other works are integrated and coordinated directly enabling front-line teaching departments.

In response to the tough situation of Coronavirus-Pandemic in 2022, CTO School persisted both in epidemic prevention & control and the sustainable development of the School

In March 2022, the pandemic broke out in Shanghai. All the administrative staff of CTO School worked from home during this tough period. They insisted on two regular administrative meetings a day (8:30 in the morning and 4:30 in the afternoon) to ensure the steady progress of all works. From March 27 to June 7, statistics of CTO School's scientific research, teaching and epidemic prevention information were collected every day, and the “Epidemic Prevention and Control Information Bulletin was edited and distributed. The teachers and students actively responded to the school's policy deployment, and implemented the epidemic prevention and control as well as scientific research and education. moreover, the school launched a series of activities of academic lectures in the spring of 2022, which enriched the students' learning activities online. CTO School leaders’ team and tutors directly moved into Minhang campus and became volunteers to support the pandemic control. Besides, they focused on students' all-round development, particularly students' mental health, and back them up with some professional instructions and helps during the pandemic period.

The First Student Admission of CTO School's Degree Program 

Completing the Self-Evaluation of MEM (Master of Engineering Management) Master Degree Authorization Point

In September, the first CTO degree program students successfully enrolled. Since May, the college has organized the professional degree evaluation team of the Master of Engineering Management to hold group meetings to discuss the development and construction of the professional degree of engineering management, improve the training program and curriculum, and highlight the interdisciplinary advantages of science, engineering, and business management. In November, CTO School successfully completed the self-evaluation of MEM master's degree authorization points. Focusing on interdisciplinary, the CTO talent training model has been extended from degree programs to executive education programs (non-degree). 

Up to now, the school has completed the construction of the core curriculum of CTO degree education, established a highly qualified faculty which is comprised of five academicians, and more than 100 academic and industrial mentors in the first stage.

Facing Great Challenges：MEM master degree program (Emergency Technology and Management ) started in 2022

In 2022, CTO School set three concentrations and specializations of MEM master degree program: Chief Technology Officer, Emergency Technology and Management and Major Project Management. The CTO is oriented for science and technology innovation industries and enterprises, including the advanced class and the elite class. The training objectives and achievements are to contribute to the demand for senior talents in China's science and technology innovation development strategy, focusing on artificial intelligence, integrated circuits, biomedicine and several strategic emerging industries. The specialization of emergency technology and management are oriented to the government and public administration departments. The training objectives and achievements are to contribute to tackling or resolving the demand for senior talents for major social problems and risks, especially during the post-epidemic era, focusing on the fields of public health, government management and industry organization.

“Science and Technology+” and “Business +” Innovative Interdiscipline Assists Executive Education Programs

"Technology, Education and Talent in Higher Education" is the core value of CTO School's executive education. The design of executive education curriculum system is an important embodiment of the combination of technology and business.

The school’s executive education extends to the areas of financial technology, beauty and health industry. On October 28, CTO School and the Institute of Fintech Research of East China Normal University (IFR) jointly held the Interpretation of China's Digital Financial Transformation Policy and EMTO Course Conference on Financial Science and Technology Management. At the meeting, CTO School, together with IFR, launched the first Executive Management of Technology Officer (EMTO) program in China. Subsequently, the opening ceremony and the first lecture of the "Investment Promotion and Scientific Investment Manager Seminar of Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer of East China Normal University × Lin-gang Innovation Management Institute" were successfully held online.This seminar was tailored by CTO School for Lingang Group's investment promotion and scientific investment manager cultivation, aiming at new technology and new business to customize new high-end projects for Lingang Group. Besides, the 30-Person Forum on Beauty and Health Industrial Ecological Innovation and the Establishment Ceremony of Industrial Ecological Alliance, sponsored by East China Normal University and undertaken by CTO School was successfully held on September 23. Chief Technology Officer (CTO) advanced program of Beauty and Wellness Industry had started officially.

3.  The 2nd ECNU CTO Summit Forum(2022) & The Establishment Ceremony for Innovation Center of Education, Technology, Talent (ICoETT)

Qian Xuhong, president of East China Normal University and academician of the CAE Member, delivered the opening keynote speech at the Second 2022 National University Science and Technology Innovation and Business Education Forum and Senior Teachers Training Camp. The live broadcast of the forum on the first day attracted nearly 80,000 viewers.

CTO School has created a new area of science and technology business in the academic and industrial circles, leading the academic research and practice of integration of industry and education in this area. The exemplary position and influence of the school's educational innovation has been further expanded, and it has won the honor of 2022 "The Best  Value Colleges for Business Education "(according to CNR, China National Radio’s MBA Education Forum 2022 ), and Professor He Jiaxun，executive dean of CTO School，has been honored of "The Leading Figure in Business Education".

The Independent-Developed Enrollment System Went Online

In 2022, the CTO School independent-developed enrollment system has been constantly optimized and improved for the student recruitment affairs. According to the recruitment process, the system has designed ten core functional modules, including clue information, effective clues, student files, effective demands, programs and classes, programs information, sales support, report center, and workbench, to realize the process from importing effective clues to following up records, facilitate the entry of large number of effective clues, and follow up clues, promote visit interaction. The one-stop data service of sales summary and other functions have greatly improved the quality and efficiency of student enrollment management.

Integration and Upgrading of Industry and Education

New Important Strategic Cooperation Base

In 2022, CTO School's "Industry-Education" cooperation was upgraded again. A number of important strategic cooperation bases were built, including the co-construction of the Digital Industry CTO Executive Education and Digital Innovation Demonstration Base with the China- Israel Innovation Park(Shanghai); the co-construction of the Industry-Education Collaborative Innovation Center with the National Eastern Tech-Transfer Center; the co-construction of the Science and Innovation Education and European- American Expert Alliance with the Putuo Branch of the European and American Students Association of Shanghai; and Joint project of Scientific Innovation Investment and Innovative Entrepreneurship Practice Base with Shanghai Science and Technology Venture Capital Group.

CTO Education Entered the Field of Financial Technology: the Yangtze River Delta Fintech 30-Person Forum and CTO Financial Technology Executive Education

Financial science and technology is a new area of science and innovation education developed by CTO School, which reflects the talent cultivation concept and positioning of the college, namely, the combination of science and technology with management, the integration of technology and commercialization, and the integration of scientist spirit and entrepreneur spirit. In September, CTO School and Institute for Yangtze River Delta Fintech Research achieved the intention of cooperation in High-end CTO (Chief Technology Officer) talents cultivation in the field of Financial Science and Technology. CTO School, together with ECNU’s Institute of Fintech Research, launched the first Executive Management of Technology Officer (EMTO) 1-year program in China.This program combines education with industry，which integrate  practice teaching with case studies，and is committed to training financial technology management executives for the future CTO positions.

Promoting Innovation in Teaching and Research of Science, Technology and Business

Since its establishment, CTO chool has actively carried out the interdisciplinary construction of science and technology+ and business+, advocated the establishment of science and technology business, adhered to the combination of science and technology and management, the integration of technology and commercialization, the integration of scientific spirit and entrepreneurship, and changed the traditional business education, which has won the approval and support of the first-class experts and scholars in the academic community at home and abroad.

In the series of "Academician Lecture" and "Distinguished Scholar Lecture", Qian Xuhong, academician of the CAE Member and president of East China Normal University, was specially invited to give a lecture on Changing the Way of Thinking and Quantum Thinking; Xu Hongxing, academician of the CAS Member and the Academy of Sciences of Developing Countries, was invited to give a lecture; Liu Ke, a foreign academician of the Australian National Academy of Engineering, the dean of the School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship of the South University of Science and Technology, the dean of the Institute of Clean Energy and the chair professor of the Department of Chemistry, was invited to give a lecture on Energy Transformation and Carbon Neutrality. In 2022, CTO School invited experts and professors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the University of Chicago, Washington University in St. Louis, Johns Hopkins University, the University of Minnesota, the University of California Riverside, Indiana University and other world-renowned universities in the fields of marketing, strategic management, innovation management, entrepreneurial finance and economics, and operation management to bring a thought feast and inspire new ideas. They also worked together to contribute to the interdisciplinary research and construction of science and "technology+" and "business+" education mode.
