MEM Sci&Tech Innovation Expert Open Class | Deep Digitization: AIGC and Metaverse

On the morning of June 11, the MEM Sci&Tech Innovation Expert Open Class and project consultation meeting was successfully  held by Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer (East China Normal University) online and offline simultaneously. Professor Zhao Xing, Dean of the Joint Institute of Metaverse and Virtual Reality Interaction, and the chief expert of the Metaverse and Digital Homo Sapiens Laboratory of East China Normal University, was specially invited to give a lecture on the topic of Deep Digitization: AIGC and Metaverse.


What is deep digitization

At the beginning of the lecture, in order to interpret the concept of deep digitization, Zhao Xing used a video to let everyone experience the life scenes of deep digitization. In the video, all aspects of life, including clothing, travel, work, exercise, etc., are digitally reflected with the help of a pair of glasses, achieving a true sense of intelligent life, and all of these have become a reality. Based on this amazing black technology(Advanced- Tech), Zhao Xing introduced several high-tech products, such as Musk's Brain–Machine Interface, Apple's headworn hybrid reality products, ChatGPT, ROBLOX online 3D creative virtual community, etc. Then he started talking about artificial intelligence and linked it to the development of AIGC (Artificial Intelligence Generated Content).


Nowadays, AIGC has become a focused technological achievement in various aspects of society, bringing disruptive changes to the economy, society, and human life. The process of deeply embedding digitalization into the C-end (user end) presents a technological paradigm from a flat and visual internet to a three-dimensional and interactive digital world. Zhao Xing starts from intelligent office, intelligent writing, Intelligent design, image generation and other aspects in simple terms, so that we can understand the production process of artificial intelligence and the way that it changes our life more clearly.


Professor, Zhao moved his Virtual humans onto the big screen, and introduced that the tool can be used in online education, course recording, online reporting and other scenarios. At present, he is studying his professional field training, GPT like tool access and other directions. At the same time, he also proposed that AIGC may be facing an unprecedented situation.



With the development of Internet 3.0, Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0, Metaverse has become a new synonym for deep digitalization. As mankind's positive imagination of the ultimate form of the future society, in today's society, the relevant fields of the Metaverse have become a social, industrial and policy hotspot. Zhao Xing vividly expounded this curious topic with some successful cases of the original universe, such as the intersection of Metaverse and AI: Virtual humans, digital human, digital homo sapiens, Metaverse game platform Roblox, boring ape NFT project, etc. He also said that currently, as the pre Metaverse era, it still has its own user group, capital turnover route, cash flow mode, etc., and has formed a closed loop. Finally, Zhao Xing has endowed the new hot industry of Metaverse with Chinese characteristics, and proposed that the Chinese Metaverse model is to strengthen the real with the virtual, and create a real Metaverse city through digital intelligence city renewal. Technology is the first force that changes the world. In China, with its technological innovation strategy leading comprehensive development, we need more innovation and educational concepts and methods that are suitable for the era of rapid technological development.


 

At the upcoming MEM project consultation and exchange meeting, Chen Wenting, the Admission Director of ICoETT Center at the Shanghai International School of Chief Technology Officer, introduced the Master of Engineering Management (MEM) program, explained its characteristics and advantages, as well as specific application and assessment methods. The wonderful course attracted more than 1900 people online and offline, and received warm praise. So far, this MEM open class and project consultation meeting has been a complete success.
